Tad Web Solutions, based in Commerce House, Middlesbrough, is a digital agency which develops and designs websites and software systems.

Thanks to the support of Innovate Tees Valley, the company was able to expand its capacity to enable it to build its own software applications, allowing it to respond to customers’ needs more quickly and efficiently. Innovate Tees Valley, led by Teesside University, works with companies to help them try new things in their business and create and improve services, products and processes.

It is formed from a partnership of Teesside University, DigitalCity, Nepic and MPI with funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

The Innovate Tees Valley graduate placement scheme part-funds the salary of a graduate for up to six months, and Tad Web Solutions used it to recruit Teesside University BSc (Hons) Web and Multimedia graduate Chris Tyerman as a Front End Web Developer.

Chris joined fellow Teesside University alumni and BSc (Hons) Computer Science graduates Zak Durrani and Raheel Rabbani who both work as web developers at the company.

We’re all very proud of this area and we really want to keep talented people in the region and so having the support to enable us to do that has been fantastic.

The team worked to produce new bespoke software which can be adapted for use in multiple applications, saving the company the need to build new applications from scratch for each of their customers.

Managing Director Ian Elcoate, who also is also a Teesside University MSc Information Technology graduate, said: 'As a result we’re able to save our customers’ time and money and be a lot more responsive to their needs.

'Getting the support from Teesside University and Innovate Tees Valley has been really helpful.

'One of the things that I’m trying to do here is to create opportunities for young people.
