Management Catalyst

This fully-funded* programme has been developed specifically to support middle managers and aspiring managers of small businesses and social enterprises.

As the owner or manager of a small business, you need a much broader skill set than those working in large organisations. You need to be able to take on a range of responsibilities to enable the wider team to carry out their work more effectively.

This also allows you to operate more strategically and drive the company forward. Having excellent managers gives you the confidence that you're your teams are working effectively, meaning you can plan for the future.

The programme will encourage and support the development of:

  • Self-awareness
  • Commercial awareness
  • Smarter thinking
  • Leadership and management skills

Fundamental to the programme will be the peer-to-peer learning that comes from working with other likeminded people. You will also develop your confidence, your ability to reflect and learn from experience and your effectiveness in dealing with difficult situations.

The programme runs from September 2019 to December 2019.

Who is it for

Management Catalyst is open to middle/senior managers who work in small businesses or social enterprises, and have a desire to develop as managers and future leaders.

It is important that as a programme delegate you have some degree of responsibility and autonomy so you are able to effectively implement your learning, and ideally you will have a team of individuals that report to you.


How you learn

Management Catalyst lasts three months, and on average, you will commit around two days per month. The programme employs an innovative integrated learning model, incorporating the following elements:

  • Overnight experiential
  • Three full day Think Tanks
  • Two Business Scrums
  • Five hours of business coaching

What you study

Sessions are half days (with the exception of the residential) and run from September 2019 to December 2019.

*The Management Catalyst programme is part-funded by the European Union, European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It is available to owner/managers of companies based in the Tees Valley, trading for more than one year and have between two and 250 employees**.
