I would recommend my course to others as I feel Teesside is an excellent choice if you want to go onto doing psychology.

BSc (Hons) Psychology

Why did you choose to study at Teesside?

I wanted to continue my education and stay at home so that I could also continue my job and gain work experience in my local area. My brother did his undergraduate here and is currently doing his Masters.

Why did you choose to study that particular subject?

I was first interested in art therapy, but thought art was too narrow for my career and psychology was another favourite subject in college. I find learning about the individual interesting. I continue to do art in my spare time.

What were your favourite modules?

My favourite module is biopsychology as I like learning about genetics and hormones and how they influence certain behaviours and disorders.

What did you think about the campus and the services offered?

The library is my favourite part of the campus, especially the refurbishment on the first floor! It makes the library really inviting and motivates me more to do work.

Did the offer of bursaries attract you to apply to Teesside?

I wasn’t aware of the bursaries the University offered and that I was eligible so it came as a nice surprise! I received £1,500 scholarship in my first year and will receive £500 each subsequent year.

What was your social life at Teesside like?

With my timetable, I have more time to be sociable compared to when I was at college and the particular shifts I worked.

Would you recommend Teesside and your course?

I would recommend my course to others as I feel Teesside is an excellent choice if you want to go onto doing psychology.

What career do you hope to enter after the course?

I am not 100% sure on what career I want to progress onto. My tutors have been very helpful in providing me with advice and information about the Masters course so when it comes to making a decision next year I'll feel more fully informed and confident in the choice I will make.
