Many of our degrees are available as four-year sandwich courses in which you take a year's supervised placement. You get relevant work experience, develop new skills, and deepen your understanding of your subject.
Other courses include overseas study so you experience a different culture and learn a language. On some courses you can undertake a project for a company to gain commercial experience - an impressive addition to your CV.
Making you more employable
Volunteering is a valuable way to get the work experience employers often demand. We offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities to enhance your employability. We also encourage you be a mentor at local schools, a role model to help pupils increase their achievements.
Careers service
Our careers service was one of the first to be accredited under the Matrix national quality standard for information, advice and guidance. We can help you with applications and preparing for interviews with our wide range of resources in the careers library and specialised careers education sessions. In our IT area you can research jobs and vacancies on the internet.

Starting your own business
If you have a fantastic idea and want to set up your own business our graduate enterprise programme can help. You can find out what it means to run a business by taking part in our enterprise development project and a wide range of supportive events.
When you're ready we can support you in getting your business off the ground - including first class start-up units on campus. We've helped over 150 graduate businesses get started.

Our DigitalCity Fellowships give graduates in digital and creative technologies the opportunity to develop ideas into products and business opportunities. Based in our high-tech Institute of Digital Innovation, Fellows have access to funding and specialist support.
