Teesside - best new university in England
Top for student experience
Teesside is the UK's top new university for student experience in the Times Higher Education survey 2011.
High scoring Teesside
Teesside University has come top in the UK for student experience in the sector's most prestigious national survey.
Teesside scored highly for:
- high quality lectures and helpful interested staff
- a good library and library opening hours
- having centralised convenient facilities on campus
- a highly rated Students' Union and great social life
- well structured courses with industry connections - excellent when it comes to getting a job.
Don't take our word for it
What makes this survey important is the scores come from the students - more than 14,000 full-time undergraduate students took part in the Times Higher poll. It highlights where best practice occurs and Teesside is consistently high performing.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Henderson
Being named as the 'best new university in the UK' on the basis of the views of students themselves is a true testament to the enthusiasm, energy and commitment that everyone at the University puts into endeavouring to give our students an excellent all round experience.
The campus
Around £130m has been spent on our campus proving Teesside is committed to students. Our new Darlington campus opens in 2011 providing even more higher education opportunities.
Our students love it
82% of our degree students are happy with their course - physiotherapy gave us a 100% score in the National Student Survey 2010. And students voted our library resources one of the top ten best in the country among all universities in the UK and number one in the North East.
Teesside's achievement follows on from winning THE University of the Year 2009/10.
Lori Wheatman, President of Teesside University Students’ Union said: 'It's fantastic to see yet another compelling indicator of the excellent and ever improving student experience here at Teesside University.'
A student says...
I’d recommend the degree, not just the technical aspects, but the social side as well.
