What made you decide to study for a degree?

My interest in the sports business world and my desire to further my knowledge in marketing and management led me to apply for my degree. Research into the careers that I’m most interested in made me realise that I need a degree to succeed.

Why did you choose your particular degree?

I have a great passion for sport. It’s a keen hobby of mine and I’d like a career in sports management and innovation – ideally for a large company such as Nike or Adidas. My degree incorporates sport and business so it’s just right for me and my ambitions. I also knew how fantastic the student support is here at Teesside and that I’d have the opportunity to complete the work experience I need to achieve my career goals.

What’s the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course has to be the student volunteer internship that I completed as part of my course. It gave me the chance to volunteer with an employer to gain the skills and experience I need for my future career.

I’ve also really enjoyed working with Middlesbrough Football Club – the University and MFC have great connections and that’s meant my cohort has benefited from regular guest lectures and lots of opportunities to work at MFC which is great.

What do you think about the campus?

The campus at Teesside is great for students. The library is a brilliant place to study and I use it regularly. Student services is also excellent – it offers support and guidance on everything you need when you’re at university.

The Students’ Union is constantly offering support too, it’s one of the best in the country. The Students’ Union is really popular, but the pubs and restaurants around campus also have a great atmosphere – the campus and surrounding areas are brilliant for your social life.

What’s your overall impression of the University?

Teesside is great. I’d recommend it to anyone. The campus masterplan looks brilliant and means that the University is only going to get better with new building and facilities being added all the time.

The support at Teesside is really good and my course is excellent – it gives me the chance to complete 200 hours of essential industry experience and it’ll definitely help me achieve my ambitions of working in sports management. It’s a fantastic course for anyone wanting to get into the sports business.
