Ultimately, I want to work in the police service. Policing in the UK is changing – by 2020 all applicants will need a degree, so I decided to go to university.

I’ve gained a wide variety of skills from my course such as forensic profiling to legal issues. It really helps with my aspiration of joining the police service.
The library is really good and it’s open 24 hours a day. The Students’ Union is also great – I use the shop and the restaurant is perfect for on the go food and also for socialising.
The campus is in the town centre which I like, but if you venture out a bit you also have the countryside and beach on your doorstep.
I’m a member of the University hockey club and I occasionally play matches in either goal or outfield. I would advise anyone to join a club or society as you’ll gain great friends, but it’s also excellent stress relief away from your studies.
My ambition is to join the police and get to sergeant or even inspector level, but I’d also love to play for England in my sport. The elite athlete scheme at Teesside is supporting me to reach my potential.
