Undergraduate health students

Bursaries

National Health Service (NHS) bursaries are available for full-time pre-registration courses in England. To get a bursary you must be accepted for an NHS-funded place.

Diploma level course - non means tested bursary (£6,701 in 2009)
Degree level course - means tested bursary (up to £4,614 in 2009) and you can apply for a reduced rate maintenance loan.

Bursaries are free of income tax, National Insurance and superannuation deductions. In addition you may be eligible for other allowances. Note: European Union students are not usually entitled to these bursaries.

Tuition fees

If you are on an NHS-funded health professional course at degree or diploma level your tuition fees will be paid by the NHS. More information will be sent to you when you're offered a place on a course.
