A group of over 60 Indian students from Amity University in Delhi visited Teesside University in April. The students were participating in an immersion trip to the UK – giving them the chance to see a variety of study and tourist destinations around the country, experience student life and practice their English language skills.

The students, mainly studying business and management, psychology and mass communications in their home university, had the chance to attend sample lectures in Teesside University Business School and the School of Design, Culture and the Arts, and were hosted for dinner by Teesside’s award-winning Student Union.

Beyond life on campus, the students also had the opportunity for a brief visit to Saltburn, followed by lunch hosted by Middlesbrough Football Club, and supported the team afterwards at the Club’s match against Burnley.

Shweta Tyagi, a faculty member from Amity’s Noida campus who accompanied the group, commented: “I had the privilege to visit Teesside University, one of the premier universities in the UK, along with a cohort of students during my recent trip on our Study Abroad Programme. We were welcomed by the University’s International Development team and their enthusiastic student ambassadors. I would highly recommend this University to our students and to others as well for its great history, culture, brilliant staff and great academic value.”

George Hunt, Director of International Development at Teesside University said: “Amity is an international university which shares many of its values with Teesside. Events such as this allow us to build on our partnership with this institution while showing off our teaching and learning facilities to students from overseas. We hope to welcome more visitors from Amity to Teesside and will be offering opportunities for students from both universities to learn from each other in the near future.”
