Teesside University students volunteered at hospital in Cambodia.

In July 2018, 16 students travelled to Cambodia, following fund raising activities to pay for their expenses.

Working in a challenging environment, with very limited resources, students worked in groups of four with an interpreter. Students spent time in the intensive care unit, accident and emergency, obstetrics, paediatrics, medical ward, surgical ward and mental health ward.

The trip was a huge success and the staff at Battambang hospital were very impressed with our students. Graham Jones, lecturer in nursing skills at Teesside University, and board member of the charity Transform Healthcare Cambodia said:

“I am immensely proud of those who represented the University and the charity. From my perspective it is rewarding to see the contribution our students are making to the development of healthcare provision at Battambang hospital.”

There will be another volunteering trip to Battambang Hospital in July 2019.
