New foundation degrees for health and social care

08 August 2002

The School of Health & Social Care at the University of Teesside is offering three new Foundation degrees from this September - which combine study at a higher level with a more hands-on approach to learning.

The new programmes cover the areas of Early Years, Health Care Sciences and Health and Social Care.

The new vocational degree courses can be studied on a full-time or part-time basis and will appeal to those new to the health and social care sector and also to those currently employed in this area who wish to enhance their careers.

A number of further education colleges have been involved in their development and this is where some of the course delivery will take place. Work-based learning plays a significant part in each course’s content, backed up by lectures and tutorials.

Opportunities will be available on successful completion of one of these degrees to apply to undertake professional education towards registration in a number of disciplines such as nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work and diagnostic radiography.
