Teesside rejects top-up fees

05 December 2002

The University of Teesside’s Academic Board, Board of Governors and Students’ Union today called upon the government to reject top-up fees.

In a joint statement, Professor Derek Fraser, University Vice-Chancellor, and Martin Ings, President of the University of Teesside’s Students’ Union, said: “We believe that such fees would reduce and not widen access to higher education.

“Top-up fees would not benefit the majority of higher education institutions and would lead to a two-tier system”.
