University of Teesside students will prove their hearts are as big as their brains at the Community Volunteers Project. Featuring a weeklong range of activities, the Community Volunteers Project is part of National Student Volunteering Week 2003, and highlights the excellent work of volunteering students throughout the UK. Teesside's week of events will begin with a balloon launch by the University of Teesside Vice-Chancellor (Designate) Graham Henderson on Monday 17 February at 12 noon (see above).

Teesside students work on a range of volunteering activities throughout the Tees Valley. The celebration week will include Gospel singing in the community, recycling programmes and a special visit to the Children's Ward at University Hospital of North Tees, as well as many other fun events

Stefan Klidzia, Community Learning Manager, said: "The Community Volunteer Project is an ideal way in which to strengthen further links with the community, giving students and staff the opportunity to gain new skills and experiences whilst engaging with local people."
