Health research conference at Teesside

12 September 2003

The University of Teesside is hosting a special conference to discuss new methods of putting health research findings into practice across Durham and Tees Valley on Friday 19 September, 9.30am - 4pm

The Getting Evidence into Practice conference is organised by the County Durham & Tees Valley Research & Development Liaison Group and will be held at the University’s School of Health & Social Care’s Centuria Building, off Victoria Road, Middlesbrough.

There will be various talks throughout the day, giving delegates the opportunity to learn from peers and other professionals. Subjects will include: Patients’ views on managing the prescribing of medicines for older people, how services can respond to women and mothers who are drug users, young men’s use of the psychology services and alternatives to full sedation for young children anxious about dental treatment.

Paul Keane, Director of the School of Health & Social Care, said: “This conference is all about finding ways to continually improve the public health service by making sure that important research findings are used to benefit patients in the region. We have several speakers, including our key speaker Mike Kelly, Director of Research & Information for the Health Development Agency. I’m sure these talks will be of interest to many people.”
