Free lecture explores the world of education

20 April 2004

Modern trends in teaching will be the focus of a free lecture by Professor Ben Knights at the University of Teesside on Wednesday 5 May, 6.30 - 8pm at Room OL1, Europa Building, off Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough.

Entitled 'Thinking of Teachers: Reflections on the brave new world of British Higher Education', the lecture will argue that many trends in contemporary higher education de-skill and de-motivate teaching staff and will propose that radical change requires input from teachers.

Ben Knights is a University of Teesside Professor of English & Cultural Studies and a National Teaching Fellow. He is currently on secondment to the Learning, Teaching & Support Network English Subject Centre in London.

His lecture is open to all members of the public and will be of particular importance to anyone with an interest in Higher Education. Refreshments will be served from 6.00pm. Seats will be available on a first come, first served basis. For further information, contact Liz Lawrence on 01642 342933, e-mail: liz.lawrence@tees.ac.uk.
