Join the University’s wildbunch!

06 April 2005

The University of Teesside’s nursery garden is to undergo a Ground Force style makeover for the spring, courtesy of the University’s volunteers, a combination of staff and students.

The makeover highlights the varied activities of student and staff volunteers. There will be an opportunity to photograph the volunteers during the makeover, entitled ‘Wildbunch!’ at the University Nursery, Park Lane, Middlesbrough at 2pm on Tuesday 12 April.

Jayne Villiers, the University’s Volunteer Co-ordinator, said: “University volunteers are gaining a whole variety of skills and experiences. And they’re supporting their local community at the same time. ”

Janet Graham, Nursery Manager at the University said: “The nursery staff and children have tried on a previous occasion to make something of this area but with very little success, so it’s great of the volunteers to make this possible. I know that the children will enjoy being involved with the planting, and the area will provide us with lots of learning opportunities in the future. We are really grateful for the input of all those concerned with this project.”
