Teesside sees increase in student applications

09 May 2006

The University of Teesside has increased student applications by more than other universities in the North East of England.

Figures released today by the Universities and Colleges Association (UCAS) show applications for degree courses at Teesside are up 3.9% compared with the same time last year.

Across the country, degree applications are down by 2.6%.

Popular courses at Teesside this year include business studies and business management and the new Sport Management degree.

Others doing very well are Occupational Therapy, Law and Civil Engineering.

Professor Graham Henderson, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Teesside, said: “The figures bode well for our ambitious plans to grow the number of undergraduates studying at Teesside and it appears that our generous new bursaries and scholarships are attractive to applicants.”
