Jill proves herself More Th>n capable

A lecturer in staffing successful organisations at the University of Teesside has won a prestigious regional award.

Jill Newman, 32, from Stockton-on-Tees, won the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) North East Branch Award for Human Resources Practitioner of the Year.

She was presented with the award at an event attended by over 500 people at the Marriott Hotel in Gosforth, Newcastle.

Jill (pictured with her award) also lectures on managing equality in a diverse workplace on a part time basis at Teesside Business School at the University.

Having graduated with a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management in 2004, when she was Student of the Year, Jill now works as an HR Consultant at the insurance company More Th>n in Sunderland.

She also achieved Fellow status of the CIPD in 2006, the highest level of membership in which she had to demonstrate her experience contributing to HR at a strategic level.

Jill said: “I really enjoyed my time at Teesside Business School, particularly the blend of research and practical application, and wanted to give something back to the University and its students.

“I am really pleased that my hard work and dedication to my HR career has been formally recognised through the professional body of the CIPD.”
