Volunteer database launch

01 October 2007

The University of Teesside is to launch VolunTees, a new online database system which will enable organisations to register online and to promote their volunteering opportunities

It will also provide students and staff at the University with an opportunity to improve their personal skills and enhance their CVs.

Jayne Villiers, Volunteer Co-ordinator said: ‘VolunTees will allow organisations to promote current opportunities as well as specific events, such as fundraising activities or Volunteer Open Days. By registering on VolunTees, and taking part in the Community Volunteers Project, we can also look at developing new opportunities for University volunteers which may be particularly relevant to specific academic areas.

‘For example, organisations might have a new website or marketing strategy that they need help developing. We could help to identify and develop this opportunity for students or members of staff with the relevant marketing or web design skills to help the organisation with that particular project.

‘VolunTees will help University volunteers to search for opportunities that will help them develop specific skills, to get involved with the local community and to enhance their employability.’

The launch event takes place on Friday 5 October where organisations will have the opportunity to register their details and promote any volunteering opportunities.
