Teesside graduates win National Awards

24 September 2007

University of Teesside graduates have been presented with a top national award at a ceremony in Durham.

The National Policing Improvement Agency selected Natalie Wing, who graduated from the University of Teesside in 2004, as their top student of the year 2006. Natalie was presented with the 5th Volume Crime Scene Investigator (VCSI) Conversion Course award, sponsored by Tetra, at Durham Castle’s Great Hall on 22 July 2007.

Natalie, who was selected for her outstanding levels of personal and academic achievement, joined Cleveland Police CSI Unit in February this year.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Ray Morton, Head of Crime Scene Investigation said ‘I am delighted that a member of the Unit has been honoured. There is an ever increasing amount of interest in the work and methods of forensic science and the award shows the expertise required to become a crime scene investigator.’

Alan McIlroy, a 2006 Teesside graduate, was also chosen as Student of the year for the National Policing Improvement Agency 6th VCSI Award sponsored by the Police Mutual Assurance Society.
