Professor takes in-depth look at domestic violence

26 September 2000

Celebrity wives including Sheryl Gascoigne and Wendy Turner hit the headlines recently with shock stories about the domestic violence they had suffered. They both cited support agencies for victims of domestic violence as lifelines and pledged their own support to promoting the valuable and often life-saving work of such organisations. On this theme, Professor Jill Radford, an academic expert in domestic violence, will give a lecture on multi-agency approaches with specific reference to the work of the local domestic violence forums of Middlesbrough and Langbaurgh and Cleveland. She will ask whether multi-agency approaches are simply a new remedy to social crime problems or a progressive way forward. Professor Radford’s lecture takes place on Wednesday 4 October at 6.30pm in the Open Learning Technology Centre on Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough. For more details contact Mark White at the University of Teesside on 01642 342004.
