Domestic violence forum

01 April 2007

Professor Jill Radford, Sue Alderson and Salma Castle from the Social Futures Institute were among a forum of 30 women who met with Home Secretary, Charles Clark, to discuss domestic violence.

Professor Radford argued it was premature to criminalise mothers who refused access to fathers convicted of violence against them. Salma Castle raised the issue that current immigration policy leaves some Asian women with a stark choice of staying with a violent husband or facing the threat of deportation.
