Creating a buzz around campus

13 May 2009

Creative Arts Week is underway at the University and is proving to be a huge success.

Scores of talented students have been showcasing their work and there have been a string of guest lectures and inspiring talks to get the creative juices flowing.

And the fun is far from over as there are more events planned throughout the week.

One of the highlights of Creative Arts Week so far was the visit of Concept Artist and former student Dan Walker, who has worked on films including The Dark Knight and The Golden Compass.

Dan gave an inspiring lecture to around 100 students and he officially opened the Design and Fine Art Exhibition.

The week has also seen events including a Media Showcase, where Media and TV Production students screened their work and a lecture on the history of Stewart Park.

More to come There’s still plenty of opportunity to get involved in Creative Arts Week.

The Design and Fine Art Exhibition in the Constantine Building and Athena Building is open until Friday 15 May, from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

Creative writing students are hosting a cabaret of spoken word from 6.30pm in the Students’ Union Hub on Wednesday 13 May.

And Dance and Performing Arts students are staging a trio of performances at Middlesbrough College Theatre. You can catch an open dress rehearsal at 3.00pm on Thursday 14 May or the first performance at 7.00pm on the same day, or the repeat on Friday 15 May, again at 7.00pm.
