Spreading the word

14 May 2009

Poetic students took to the stage to perform a cabaret of the spoken word.

Around a dozen MA Creative Writing students gave a public reading in front of their friends, lecturers and fellow students.

The event, at the Students’ Union Hub, formed part of Creative Arts Week, which has seen a string of exhibitions, performances and guest lectures take place around the University.

Students performed a selection of their own work, together with readings from writers who have inspired them.

There was also a performance from critically acclaimed dub poet Michelle Scally-Clarke, who has published collections of poetry and worked with many notable artists including Benjamin Zephaniah and Willy Russell.

Creative Arts Week climaxes with Dance and Performing Arts students giving a trio of performances at Middlesbrough College Theatre. You can catch an open dress rehearsal at 3.00pm on Thursday 14 May or the first performance at 7.00pm on the same day, or the repeat on Friday 15 May, again at 7.00pm.
