Psychology of web design

11 June 2009

Guests at our public lecture were treated to an entertaining and thought provoking peek at the psychology behind web design.

The lecture on the human in human-computer interaction was given by Professor Paul van Schaik.

Professor Schaik is a psychologist whose research on human-computer interaction goes back more than 25 years. He was recently awarded a National Teaching Fellowship.

His lecture explored how people's use of interactive computer systems can be studied to understand both the cognitive and motivational mechanisms of computer use.

This understanding ultimately leads to improving system design and an enhanced experience for users.
