Dance into a healthy March

01 March 2010

We're aiming for a healthy start to spring, by transforming March into health and well-being month.

Our Student Services department has devised a range of activities for staff and students, all focused on various aspects of health and well-being.

These activities include: >taster sessions on the University’s climbing wall in Olympia >a table tennis tournament for international students >mini health MOTs >alcohol awareness sessions >sessions on men’s and women’s health >enrolment sessions for a ‘new beginners’ running club.

Hazel Wright, health and well-being co-ordinator, said: 'All these opportunities aim to help staff and students to ‘think well, move well and be well’. Throughout March, we’re offering help and advice on how to get fit, stay well and feel great.

'There’s a light-hearted side to health too, as we’re having ‘a little bit of what you fancy’ coffee morning with a free tea or coffee and stalls selling all sorts of cakes to raise money for the Middlesbrough branch of the mental health charity MIND.'

Dancers from Middlesbrough Youth Dance and students from the University’s BA (Hons) Dance are encouraging staff and students to join them in a street/urban dance session on Wednesday 3 March, 10.45am in the Sports Hall in the Brittan Building.

Details of all events are at www.tees.ac.uk/wellbeing
