Teesside filmmaker shortlisted for £10,000 prize

22 March 2010

A Teesside graduate is in the running to scoop a £10,000 prize for a fantastic film he made here on campus.

Tom Marshall, who graduated in 2008 with a BA (Hons) Television Production Professional Practice, has been shortlisted in the Workplace Short Film Competition, organised by recruitment agency reed.co.uk.

His video, Remember My Face, is one of 12 short films being put to a public vote after judges whittled down over 250 entries.

The only brief for the competition was to make a three minute film inspired by the workplace and the winner will receive a £10,000 cash prize.

Tom made a spoof music video featuring an arrogant and egotistical boss and he’s hoping it will be enough to land him the top prize.

Hooked on films Tom said: ‘I had wanted to do a spoof music video/comedy song for ages and thought this was the perfect excuse to do something like that. I am really pleased with it, for a self-funded film I am really happy with how it looks.

‘I started making films in college and got a bit hooked – I always knew I would go on and study it further at University. If you are thinking about studying Television Production at Teesside I would definitely recommend it – it’s a brilliant course.'
