Conference will put firm focus on how we learn

A Teesside University conference will focus on immersive technologies for learning.

The iVERG annual conference will be of interest to professionals involved in the use of immersive virtual environments for training, teaching or research.

It is taking place at Teesside University as part of the Social Futures Institute’s biennial cycle.

Research on virtual environments for use in learning and teaching is diverse and complex, drawing on fields such as education, computing, sociology, psychology, anthropology.

Themes included in the conference are: >collaboration and communicating in immersive learning environments >innovations and problem-based learning in immersive learning environments >planning educational experiences in virtual worlds >rethinking learning in virtual worlds.

Stewart Martin, Principal Lecturer in the University’s School of Social Sciences & Law and a National Teaching Fellow, said: 'The conference is drawing together researchers and practitioners from across the world in this new and exciting domain of experience and study. The groundbreaking presentations across the two days will make a significant contribution to the development of this field and to establishing Teesside University as a leader in this area of research, learning and digital innovation.'

The conference will be held on Monday 28 June and Tuesday 29 June, from 9.00am to 5.00pm, in Room CL2.19 of the Clarendon Building, off Southfield Road, Middlesbrough.
