Physio students put Teesside top of the class

18 August 2010

Physiotherapy students at Teesside University are the most satisfied with their course in the UK, according to the National Student Survey (NSS).

Students from the BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy gave a score of 100% for overall student satisfaction with their course.

The Higher Education Funding Council for England’s annual NSS includes 22 diverse questions. These measure student satisfaction in their courses and teaching quality at different Universities.

Teesside had ten subject areas scoring above the national average overall for student satisfaction this year:

>physiotherapy 100% >history 92% >nursing 88% >medical technology (radiography) 88% >sport science 88% >occupational therapy 86% >media studies 85% >law 85% >psychology 84% >academic studies in education 83%

Looking across all subjects, the University’s students recorded an overall satisfaction level of 82% - in line with the national average.

This puts Teesside in the top ten nationwide among the modern universities in terms of overall student satisfaction.

Professor Caroline MacDonald, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Student Experience), said: 'The University has performed well since the inception of the National Student Survey in 2005. This performance is mirrored in other surveys such as the International Student Barometer.

'We are delighted that students on ten of our courses have recorded satisfaction levels above the national average for all subjects; and that in the case of Physiotherapy we had a student satisfaction figure of 100%. This is a source of great pride.'
