Success is gold for University’s brand

The University’s new brand has scooped another accolade – this time a gold award from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).

We won the award at the CIPR North East PRide Awards 2010 for communicating our new brand internally.

The award was won against strong competition from both the higher education and commercial sectors. Teesside’s new brand has been a great success, showing the institution to be dynamic, innovative and energetic.

After winning University of the Year in the Times Higher Education awards 2009, the brand has grown and strengthened, reinforcing the University’s position as an ambassador for the Tees Valley.

The University also recently won the Hotspur award for Bold Endeavour from the Northumbrian Association for inspirational involvement in raising the profile of the region.

The PRide award was won for the University’s internal campaign to communicate the brand messages to all staff and students within the University and for them to become ambassadors in turn.

An outstanding year for Teesside Sharon Bimson, Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications in the University’s Department for Marketing and Student Recruitment, said: ‘This has been an outstanding year for Teesside University.

‘We have won a host of awards which demonstrate our confidence, our drive and our determination to ensure the success of the University and inspire students to continue their education with us.’

Sally Keith, Chair of CIPR North East, added: ‘The CIPR PRide awards recognise and reward the thriving public relations profession from across the UK.

‘They help to celebrate the importance of demonstrating the value of what we, as public relations professionals, do and the positive impact this profession has on all aspects of business. Being named as a CIPR PRide Award winner is a fantastic achievement.’
