Creative students have novel way of launching Adele’s book

11 April 2011

Celebrated writer Adele Parks has enrolled the help of creative students to launch her new novel.

Adele, a Teesside University honorary graduate, invited BA (Hons) Television and Film Production students from the School of Arts & Media to create a book trailer as part of the launch of her eleventh novel, About Last Night.

About Last Night follows the story of two women, who have been friends for over 30 years. Their close friendship is pushed to the limits by dramatic events which unfold over the space of 24 hours.

The book trailer winner will be announced at Adele’s Audience With free talk at the University’s Centuria Building from 6.30pm to 7.45pm on Wednesday 27 April.

Adele’s talk, From Cinderella to Bestseller, will look at her literary work and the importance of reading. One and a half million copies of Adele's books have been sold in the UK and her work is translated into 25 different languages.

Places for the free talk are limited and must be booked by contacting the University’s Alumni Team on 01642 342887 or emailing alumni.office@tees.ac.uk.

Proud to be involved with the University Originally from Eaglescliffe, Adele went from working in advertising to become a top-ten bestseller with her very first novel Playing Away. She has gone on to have ten top-ten bestsellers in ten years.

Adele said: ‘Teesside University is particularly special to me, not only because I’m from the area, I’m also the proud recipient of an honorary doctorate. I love being involved in University life.’

University students spent weeks working on their entries for the book trailer competition, with the winner due to be unveiled following Adele’s Audience With talk.

The winning entry will be seen online on websites such as Amazon, Headline Publishing, Teesside University and Adele’s own website and Facebook fan page.

Copies of her latest paperback Men I’ve Loved Before will be on sale at the Audience With event at a reduced price of £5, with £1 from each sale going to the University’s It started with a gift... fundraising campaign.
