Record number of exhibits at ExpoTees 2011

13 April 2011

More than 100 students exhibited work at ExpoTees 2011, with several participants winning prestigious internships.

ExpoTees, now in its sixth year, showcased the final year projects of students from the School of Computing.

A record 103 students displayed their work in the Athena Building on 6 April and the exhibition was followed by the ExpoTees Awards, where 15 students were awarded prizes in recognition of their projects.

The prizes included prestigious internships with companies such as SAGE, Ubisoft and CBeebies.

The judging panel at this year’s ExpoTees included Paul Shuttleworth, CBeebies’ Executive Producer, Nicole Seymour, Senior Content Producer and Sarah Parsons, a Researcher for CBeebies Interactive.

Being on the panel was a role reversal for Teesside Web Design graduate Sarah, as she achieved the CBeebies internship in May 2009 while a final year student.

A unique platform to showcase work Jo Noble, a Senior Lecturer in Computing who organisers ExpoTees, said: ‘ExpoTees provides our students with a unique platform to showcase their work to industry experts and potential employers and receive feedback and recognition for their hard work.

‘The event attracts a wide range of visitors and the exposure it provides helps raise the students' profiles often leading to full time employment in their chosen industry. A number of our exhibitors were lucky enough to win much coveted internships at the ExpoTees awards with some of our sponsors - Ubisoft, Framestore, Sage and VisualSoft.’
