Simon becomes animated in Exeter

20 January 2012

The internationally-awarded creativity of Simon McKeown, a Reader in Animation and Post Production in the School of Computing, is to be screened at a free animation festival in Exeter.

Two of Simon’s recent animated works, All for Claire and Motion Disabled will be shown at the Animation and Disability exhibition, as part of the Animated Exeter festival.

This will be held at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Exeter, from Saturday 21 January to Saturday 3 March, open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5.00pm. Other screenings will include work from Aardman Animations, producers of the globally successful Wallace and Gromit series.

Simon, who has also achieved the accolade of International Artist of the Year from the DaDa festival said, ‘The exhibition explores Animation and Disability by showcasing the work of disabled animators, alongside animations highlighting disability. This exhibition will focus on celebrating and promoting disability and disabled people through animation. To be showcased alongside Aardman Animations is a great pleasure and I look forward to seeing all of the exhibition!’
