Teesside is best new university for student experience

26 April 2012

Teesside University has been named the UK’s best new university for student experience in a prestigious national student experience survey.

Teesside scored highly in the Times Higher Education survey 2011 announced today, which polled more than 14,000 full-time undergraduate students to rate universities on the quality of their lectures and teaching staff, facilities and courses.

Teesside University also came top of all the five North East universities for the quality of its facilities. Our students’ union features as the sixth highest ranked in the country.

Absolutely delighted Teesside University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graham Henderson CBE, DL said: 'I am absolutely delighted that the University has, once again, performed so well in this significant, and extremely relevant, national survey.

'Being placed among the highest achieving universities in the country and named as the 'best new university in the UK' on the basis of the views of students themselves is a true testament to the enthusiasm, energy and commitment that everyone at the University puts into endeavouring to give our students an excellent all round experience.

'We at Teesside pride ourselves on the fact that our staff always strive to place the needs of our students and partners right at the heart of everything we do, and it is immensely encouraging to see our efforts, and our investment, appreciated so warmly by our students.'

This accolade follows on from success in the Guardian University Guide 2012 when Teesside soared into the top 60 of the national rankings – rising 19 places on the previous year. This rated universities against a long list of criteria which included teaching quality, career prospects and entry qualifications.
