Award-winning postgraduate virtual open day returns

17 May 2012

Teesside University is hosting another postgraduate virtual open day on 24 May.

Virtual open days allow enquirers to speak to a panel of experts on a range of topics from the comfort of their own homes through live online chat.

The online event begins at 1.00pm with a structured chat schedule to allow enquirers to log on at specific times depending on the nature of their questions. The first hour is devoted to queries about admissions and applying; then a session for course questions spanning Teesside University’s six academic schools; and the last hour to finance and funding.

Along with being convenient for those further afield, international students included, the virtual open day gives those who have already visited Teesside University the opportunity to ask any further questions they may have after attending a ‘traditional’ open day.

Attendees can also get hints and tips and ask general questions about what it’s like to live and study in Middlesbrough, as well as talking to other enquirers in a separate online chatroom, The Hub, and learn more through presentations and videos. Nicola Doyle, Student Recruitment Manager at Teesside University, said: 'This virtual event is a great opportunity to talk to academic staff about courses, find out about funding, accommodation, student life and much more. The benefit of this online open day is that you can find all the information you need about postgraduate study at Teesside without having to leave your sofa.' Last year, Teesside won a Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Award in the category of Best Website for the virtual open day minisite, thanks to its innovation and overall success.
