Teesside’s Lisa McCormick named country’s top BBC local radio journalist

Teesside University graduate and BBC Tees presenter Lisa McCormick has scooped a prestigious journalism award.

Lisa, who graduated from Teesside University with a BA (Hons) Media Production with Music Technology in 2005, was crowned Journalist of the Year at the annual Frank Gillard Awards.

The awards, held this year on Thursday 18 October, are an annual celebration to recognise various aspects of broadcasting within BBC Local Radio. They aim to celebrate achievement and encourage excellence at BBC local radio stations across England.

Lisa said: 'I was thrilled to win the award and it is great to be recognised for doing a job that I love.

'Working at BBC Tees is fantastic and I don’t think I would be in the position I am now if I had not gone to Teesside University.'
