For Daniel postgraduate study was the start of a unique journey

08 March 2013

Postgraduate study benefited Teesside University graduate Daniel Kolodziej by allowing him to establish himself as one of the region’s leading tech entrepreneurs.

And now there are new opportunities for postgraduate students to benefit from a fees discount at Teesside. Those thinking about studying a postgraduate course can find out what the University has to offer at a postgraduate open day, taking place on campus from 11.00am to 3.00pm on Wednesday 13 March.

From September 2013 students at Teesside University will receive a 10% fees discount towards their postgraduate taught course, part-time or full-time, if they: • are a continuing Teesside University student progressing from an undergraduate to postgraduate course • have graduated from an undergraduate course at Teesside University within the last two years (2011-12) • graduated with first-class honours from an undergraduate course at any other university within the last two years (2011-12).

Daniel, 32, completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2010. He then set up Pollme, a specialist market and customer satisfaction research company that allows people to provide customer feedback and market research though their mobile phone.

More recently Daniel launched Would Love 2 – an innovative app that aims to take the rejection out of dating by allowing people to anonymously select which of their Facebook friends they would be interested in dating.

Daniel, from Darlington, also lectures part-time at Teesside University Business School and says his postgraduate degree has been a major factor in what he has been able to achieve so far.

He said: ‘I could not recommend postgraduate study enough – it solidifies your knowledge and gives you that extra edge. The MBA certainly gave me a great set of tools and contacts to help leverage my business success.

‘Teaching staff at Teesside University are high calibre. They inspired me to achieve the best results possible. I love the people and the culture of the region – we have a thriving technology start-up scene that could be world-class. ‘My advice to students is to work hard, don’t lose heart and ask for help if you need it – effective help is never far away at Teesside University.’

The postgraduate open day on 13 March will give potential students the opportunity to meet with staff, get all the information they need about courses and sample the facilities at Teesside University.
