Technology giant recruits Abbie

29 November 2013

A career at one of the world’s leading technology companies is on the cards for Abbie Holland after leaving Teesside University.

Abbie, 26, was invited to apply for a prestigious graduate training scheme with Hewlett Packard after her CV was spotted on a graduate recruitment website.

Abbie, who has gained a first class BSc (Hons) Business Systems Design, was accepted onto the scheme and is now working at the company’s offices in Newcastle

Her position as a Technical SAP (Systems, Applications and Products) Consultant sees her work with a range of Hewlett Packard clients.

She said: 'It's a varied job and quite technical and extremely interesting.

'I work directly with the clients - from small businesses to large companies - giving them technical support and also applying checks on their systems.'

Abbie, who is originally from London, was contacted by Hewlett Packard and invited to apply for the graduate training scheme after she posted her CV on a recruitment website.

After speaking with representatives from the company at a careers event at Teesside University she decided to apply for the scheme.

She was accepted completing a series of tests and interviews. Abbie credits her degree at Teesside for equipping her with the skills and confidence to succeed in her application.

She added: 'I picked the course because I was very interested in working in that field and then when I was at University I realised that I really wanted to do project management.

'I wouldn’t have gone for the training scheme if it hadn’t been for the degree.

'It really opened my eyes, not just to the career path I wanted to take, but it also developed the skills and confidence in myself to allow me to pursue that career.

'Hewlett Packard is a great company and is really helping me to develop my skills and there are opportunities to work in lots of different roles all over the world.'
