Teesside set to welcome thousands at UCAS Convention

17 April 2014

Teesside University is gearing up to welcome thousands of students from across the country to its Middlesbrough Campus, when it plays host to a UCAS convention on May 1.

The University will be joined by 120 other institutions and organisations from across the UK, who will be on hand to give students the chance to investigate all of the post-18 options available to them, including apprenticeships, further education, volunteer work, employment, or higher education.

Assistant Chief Executive and Director for External Relations at Teesside University, Michael Lavery, said: “UCAS conventions allow students to gather all of the information they need to make informed decisions about their next steps. “We are really looking forward to welcoming thousands of students to our fantastic campus in Middlesbrough, it will provide a great opportunity for us to showcase our award winning facilities and give students an insight into student life on Teesside.” Steve Jeffree, UCAS Chief Operating Officer said: “UCAS conventions are an ideal place for students to get a feel for what university life is about. In fact you can ask the experts about all the options available after finishing school. “I hope as many young people as possible take this opportunity to come to Teesside University and see what their future could look like.” The Middletown car park will be used as a coach drop off and pick up point, as well as the Student Union car park for exhibitor parking, and students attending on the day will be directed to Middlesbrough Football Club where a park and ride service will be in operation. Those attending the event can join the online conversation by following Teesside University on Twitter and Instagram using @TeessideUni and #TUready.
