University helps to promote charitable organisation’s work

02 May 2014

A charitable organisation has teamed up with Teesside University to highlight the work it does to help different generations.

MFC Foundation is Middlesbrough Football Club’s independent charity which aims to raise aspirations and provide opportunities for young people and adults using the power of the MFC brand.

Run as a separate entity from the football club, the Foundation uses its association with MFC to reach out to the young and disadvantaged through a range of sports, health and education programmes run at the charity’s study rooms at the Riverside Stadium, in schools, local community venues and MFC Foundation’s centre in South Bank, Middlesbrough.

The grant-funded charity approached Aurora House Productions at Teesside University, to help create a video to promote their work to a wider audience and raise awareness of the variety of work the MFC Foundation charity is involved in.

MFC Foundation manager Helena Pinder said: 'We are an independent charity and have a separate structure from the football club. We focus our delivery on the main themes of education, sports participation, enterprise, social inclusion, disability and health.

'Much of our work is involved in raising aspirations, using the power of the club badge as an engagement tool to inspire.'

She added: 'The team involved in making the video were extremely professional and very accommodating and we were extremely impressed with the facilities they used, such as the High Definition TV studios.

'There's a 20 minute overview of the whole project with individual focus on each theme, a cutdown version and eight idents featuring MFC players. The video includes interviews with staff and children involved in the charity, along with social inclusion ambassador and first team player George Friend and Boro manager Aitor Karanka.'

The team from Aurora House filmed at events held in schools, at evening functions, and at the club’s Rockcliffe training facility. The video will be used by MFC Foundation on the charity’s website, on social media and at events organised and hosted by the charity.

David McPhee, Creative Director at Aurora House Productions, said: 'It has been a pleasure working with MFC Foundation on their video. The Foundation is a great charity and their new video will help promote the work they do to a wider audience.'

Aurora House Productions operates within Teesside University as a business unit, offering corporate and commercial media content production across all digital platforms. Further information from info@aurorahouse.co.uk.
