Animex goes global with new event in Malaysia

20 August 2014

Teesside University's annual international festival of animation and computer games is going truly global with a major new event in Malaysia.

Animex South East Asia 2014 will be the University's first Animex festival to be held outside of the United Kingdom. The University's annual week-long Animex festival sees speakers and representatives from the world's animation and games community converge on Teesside to educate, inspire and entertain a diverse audience comprising students, professionals and enthusiasts, attracting some of the industry’s biggest names. And now 15 years since Animex was first held at Teesside, it's expanding overseas for the first time with Animex South East Asia taking place at the KDU University College in Selangor, Malaysia, on September 27 and 28. Simon Stobart, Dean of Teesside University’s School of Computing, said: 'We are delighted along with our partner KDU to be able to offer an opportunity for participation in this wonderful event to the people of Malaysia.' Among guests and internationally acclaimed speakers taking part in Animex South East Asia are animation guru Ed Hooks, games designer Alex Trowers and Jennifer Clixby, producer on Microsoft Lionhead's Fable series. With the same aims at its Teesside University counterpart, Animex South East Asia will feature talks, masterclasses, networking opportunities and an industry showcase exhibition.
