Organised by Dr Alan Jones, Head of the IT Response Unit at the University’s School of Computing & Mathematics, the 48-hour computer games fest will be running team network and single play games.
The tournament has received industry support from Viglen Computers with 15 high-powered, top-spec machines and local companies including GAME, Electronics Boutique and GT Interactive supplying the games software. The British Computer Society is awarding Player of the Day prizes for the Saturday and Sunday.
Entry for the games is free and anyone interested should contact the IT Response Unit on telephone 01642 342681/342633 or fax 01642 342618 or email p.smith@tees.ac.uk
Dr Jones said: "The University runs a number of courses geared towards a career in the computer games industry, with degrees in Computer Games Design and Interactive Computer Entertainment. The tournament weekend is an ideal opportunity to demonstrate that potential students can create, design and deliver the games of the future."
