New appointment to University Executive Team

Teesside University has appointed Professor Jane Turner to the University Executive Team as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Business Engagement).

Professor Turner will be joining the University from Northumbria University where she held the position of Associate Dean (Business and Engagement) in the Faculty of Business and Law. Jane worked in that role for ten years and was responsible for the Corporate and Executive Development Centre and business engagement for the Faculty.

An experienced Executive Coach with a Doctorate in Business Leadership, Professor Turner has a background in Human Resources and Leadership Development, working as a Leadership Specialist at Orange and Head of HR at Benfield Motor Group, before moving into higher education.

She was Professor of Enterprise at Northumbria University, working in partnership with major employers such as Capita, the NHS, Greggs, Proctor and Gamble and Northumbrian Water and building pioneering degrees in entrepreneurship and corporate management and bespoke Masters programmes in Leadership and Strategy.

At Teesside University, she will be responsible for enterprise, knowledge transfer and business engagement and will drive forward The Forge, the University’s new business hub which brings all its business facing activity together at the Darlington campus.

Commenting on her appointment, Professor Turner said: 'I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Teesside University. It is a fantastic institution which has enjoyed remarkable success in recent years. 'Having grown up in Guisborough, I am very much looking forward to being back in this part of the region and playing a key role in such an ambitious institution.'

Professor Turner is joining the University at an incredibly exciting time as the £30m Campus Heart development nears completion and a further £10m of investment to improve facilities has been announced – bringing the total spend on the campus in recent years to over a quarter of a billion pounds.
