Guests for the Christmas party were invited from community groups and residential care homes across the town. The volunteer team arranged entertainment and food for the guests, with music and entertainment provided by students.

Volun-tees helps to support students, staff and recent graduates seeking to volunteer in the local community.

Jayne Golden, Volunteer Co-ordinator, said: 'The party guests had a great time socialising and being entertained by the students who sang and danced in a special performance.

'RVS (Royal Voluntary Service) also brought along donations of food, so all of the party guests were able to take a tin of soup home with them.'

Jackie Simms, Dementia Friends champion who works for Middlesbrough Council, said: 'It's fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves so much. There has been a great response from those taking part in making it a success.'
