Celebrating computing innovation and design

Talented students will showcase their work at Teesside University’s annual ExpoTees exhibition of computer innovation, technology and design.

Final year students from the School of Computing will link up with industry professionals at ExpoTees 2016, taking place on Wednesday 11 May and Thursday 12 May at the University’s Darlington campus.

ExpoTees allows the students to demonstrate their work to guests from industry, education and business, showcasing their final year projects and portfolios as they prepare to graduate and join the industry.

Now in its 11th year, ExpoTees has helped hundreds of Teesside University graduates secure employment as a direct result of the showcase event and interactive exhibition. Graduates have gone on to work at some of the biggest names in film, computer games and computer science, including CBeebies, Ubisoft Reflections, Framestore and Accenture.

Over the years the event has evolved from a short exhibition with just a handful of students to a two-day event featuring up to 200 students exhibiting cutting edge digital work to hundreds of guests.

Steven Mead, ExpoTees event director and Senior Lecturer in Computing, said: 'ExpoTees is a great event for students to showcase their work, while also getting exposure to industry representatives and receiving feedback from experts in the field. It has continued to grow each year and the students’ work continues to excel.'

Each day of ExpoTees has a specific focus. Wednesday 11 May centres on computer science and digital media and Thursday 12 May highlights games and animation.

• ExpoTees: computer science and digital media showcases innovative work in design and development. Student work will be exhibited alongside a range of interactive and experimental exhibits using Arduino, robotics, augmented reality and virtual reality to name but a few.

• ExpoTees: games and animation celebrates exemplary work in entertainment demonstrating creativity, imagination and industry-standard skills from our Skillset accredited courses that have produced students who have gone on to work on award-winning film and games titles.

The event will culminate with the ExpoTees Awards, with students competing for an ExpoTees trophy and prize.
