New degree course backed by Boro fan favourite

23 August 2016

With Middlesbrough’s great start to life in the top flight, Teesside University has teamed up with the Premier League newcomers to offer a unique course for people interested in a career in sport.

The BA (Hons) Sports Management and Marketing at Teesside University will be delivered in collaboration with Middlesbrough Football Club.

It has already been praised by fan favourite and stand-in captain George Friend, who recently visited the University as part of a television feature examining what promotion means to the town.

He said: ‘I think it is excellent – it makes it a lot more of an attractive course with the sport in there and can lead to many different prospects after you graduate.’

The brand new course offers the opportunity to have modules delivered at Middlesbrough Football Club’s Riverside Stadium and allows students to work on live case studies at the club.

There will also be guest lectures and live projects, providing knowledge of sports management and marketing within a professional football club setting. Students will learn about the business management issues of organisational operations, social pressures facing sports, sport organisations and key developments in sponsorship, communications and event planning.

Teesside University still has places available on a range of courses through Clearing. For more information call the University’s Clearing hotline on 0800 952 0226 or visit the Clearing website.
