Lifetime achievement award for Teesside University lecturer

A Teesside University lecturer has been recognised with a prestigious honour for his contribution to the engineering profession.

Barry Walmsley, a Senior Lecturer in Structural Engineering and Course Leader for the BEng and MEng Civil Engineering, picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Institution of Structural Engineers Northern Counties Regional Awards.

The event, held earlier this month at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, recognised and celebrated the outstanding professional contributions of individual structural engineers and consultancies.

Barry is a Fellow of internationally reputed professional bodies, the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers.

I was extremely proud to receive this award, not only for myself, but in recognition of the work we are doing at Teesside University in training our young engineers for a sustainable future

He was honoured for his dedication and exceptional contribution to the fields of civil and structural engineering.

'I was extremely proud to receive this award, not only for myself, but in recognition of the work we are doing at Teesside University in training our young engineers for a sustainable future.' explained Barry.

'I continue to enjoy a fantastic and fulfilling career and am in the privileged position of being able to pass on what I have learnt to the next generation of talented engineers.'
