International tour for dance lecturer's film

The screendance, Above the Light, by Teesside University dance lecturer and videographer Heike Salzer, can be seen on an international tour.

The film, shot on a Middlesbrough rooftop to a stunning and dramatic sunset backdrop, features dance lecturer and performer Jennifer Essex. It was produced in collaboration with composer Jack Laidlaw and cinematographer Andy Harrison.

The film has been invited to numerous film festivals this summer, having been screened in Belgium, Brazil, Columbia, Portugal, Trinidad and the United States.

It will be screened in Cyprus at the Dance Waves-Moving Images Videodance Festival on November 5 and 6. Closer to home the film has been selected for the Aesthetica Film Festival in York and can be seen as part of the dance screenings taking place from November 3 to 6.

Heike said: 'We are delighted that a film shot in Middlesbrough has had such a huge success. It is great to know that so many audiences across the world are seeing Middlesbrough via our film.'
