In this role, Juliet will work with the University’s LGBT+ Focus Group to raise awareness of LGBT issues and ensure that there is a supportive environment in which our LGBT staff and students can work and study.

Teesside is ranked as one of the country’s best employers for LGBT staff, featuring in Stonewall’s top 100 UK employers – the only North East University and one of only five North East organisations to appear in the prestigious list.

Stonewall, the lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality charity, annually publishes its list of the top 100 places for LGBT employees to work across Britain. Overall Teesside is at number 51 in the top 100 employers across Britain, one of the UK’s top-ranked universities.

Juliet said: ‘At Teesside University we are committed to sexual orientation and gender identity equality for both our students and staff and value the rich diversity in our University community.

‘We proudly support LGBT students and staff and work with Stonewall and associated partners to promote a respectful and inclusive environment. In addition to the work to support the University’s LGBT community, the University and the Students’ Union have also signed the All Different, All Equal Pledge, part of an ongoing initiative to ensure that all members of the University community are respected and supported in an inclusive environment and feel able to challenge all forms of discrimination, hate crime, harassment and bullying.’
