Space Rebel Princess takes place on Saturday 1 July at Middlesbrough Central Library as part of the council’s arts programme dedicated to younger audiences.

The show features dance by Jennifer Essex, Senior Lecturer in Dance at Teesside University. Jennifer has worked as a choreographer, dancer and teacher across the UK and internationally. She will be accompanied by award-winning poet Harry Man.

Space Rebel Princess, aimed at children aged three to eight, tells the tale of a young princess who dreams of becoming an astronaut, though her parents have different plans for her.

With the help of the audience she must break free of the fears and preconceptions holding her back, and boldly go where no princess has gone before.

Inspired by Helen Sharman – the first person from the UK to travel in space – the performance seeks to empower young people to follow their dreams.

There are two performances taking place at Middlesbrough Central Library on Saturday 1 July, one at 2.00pm and one at 3.30pm. Tickets are £2.50 for children and £3.50 for adults.

Book online or call Middlesbrough Town Hall Box Office on 01642 729729.
